9 kHz to 3.6 GHz, in real time and in the field

The OWON HSA3036-R is a handheld real-time spectrum analyser covering 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz — enough for Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, LTE and sub-GHz IoT radios. Rather than sweeping the band one slice at a time, it digitises a 100 MHz span continuously, so any event lasting 6.25 µs or longer is captured with 100% probability of intercept instead of falling between sweeps.

Options turn it into two more instruments. A tracking generator over 100 kHz – 3.6 GHz, a vector network analyser measuring S11 and S21 with 90 dB of dynamic range, and a cable-and-antenna mode with distance-to-fault, return loss and VSWR mean the same box that finds the interference also tests the feeder you suspect. Add the standard GPS map, a 20 dB preamplifier, −165 dBm/Hz DANL and an 8-inch multi-touch screen, and one instrument covers hunting, survey and commissioning.

A swept analyser looks at one slice of the band at a time and loses whatever happens while it is looking somewhere else. The HSA3036-R watches 100 MHz at once and catches any burst longer than 6.25 µs — every time, not on average.

Real-time capture

100 MHz real-time analysis bandwidth, 60 dB real-time spurious-free dynamic range and a 6.25 µs 100% POI — probability density, waterfall, 3D and power-vs-time views with a 50,000-frame spectrogram.

GPS map & bearings

A GPS receiver, directional-antenna input and gyroscope log position, route, level and antenna bearing on a map on the instrument — so a site walk becomes a triangulation.

VNA & cable test (option)

A tracking generator over 100 kHz – 3.6 GHz, vector S11/S21 with 90 dB dynamic range and a Smith chart, plus distance-to-fault, return loss and VSWR on feeders and antennas.

Automatable

LAN, USB Type-C host and micro-USB device with SCPI, LabVIEW and IVI over USB-TMC, VXI-11, socket or Telnet — plus NI-MAX, a web browser interface and OWON Spectrum Vision.
