Process Multimeters
Handheld process multimeters and loop calibrators — measure and source DC voltage, current (with 24 V loop power), frequency, thermocouple and RTD for instrumentation, HVAC and control work.

Professional OWON process multimeter category introduction
OWON HPC process multimeters combine a precise digital multimeter with an analog signal source in one rugged handheld. They measure and output DC voltage and current — with 24 V loop power for transmitter testing — plus frequency, thermocouple and RTD on the higher models, so a single tool can both read a process signal and simulate one for calibration, commissioning and troubleshooting of 4–20 mA loops and control systems.
- Loop calibration: every HPC7x+ model sources DC voltage and active/passive DC current with 24 V loop power, a dual mA/% display and manual 25%/100% stepping, auto-step and auto-ramp — ideal for 4–20 mA transmitter and valve work.
- How much you need to measure: HPC77+ (5000-count) covers DC volts, current and resistance; HPC78+ (6000-count) adds AC, frequency and wider ranges; HPC79+ adds thermocouple and RTD (Pt100) for full temperature-loop calibration.
- Field-rugged: the HPC78+ and HPC79+ are IP65 dust- and water-resistant with backlight, flashlight and auto power-off, running on 3 standard AA batteries.

Questions about OWON process multimeters
Technical selection guidance for choosing the right process multimeter.
What is a process multimeter / loop calibrator?
A process multimeter combines a digital multimeter with a signal source. As well as measuring DC voltage and current it can output (source) precise DC voltage and 4–20 mA current with 24 V loop power, so a single handheld can both read a process signal and simulate one — used to calibrate transmitters, valves and controllers in industrial 4–20 mA loops.
What is the difference between the HPC77+, HPC78+ and HPC79+?
The HPC77+ is a 5000-count entry model for measuring and sourcing DC voltage and current with 24 V loop power. The HPC78+ steps up to 6000 counts and adds AC voltage/current, frequency and wider ranges (DC to 1000 V), and is IP65-rated. The HPC79+ adds resistance, thermocouple and RTD (Pt100) measurement and sourcing, making it a full temperature-loop calibrator.
Do the HPC process meters supply 24 V loop power?
Yes. All HPC7x+ process multimeters supply 24 V loop power while measuring loop current, so you can power and test a 4–20 mA transmitter without a separate supply. Output accuracy is up to 0.2% with a 5-digit output display; measurement basic accuracy is up to 0.1% with a 6000-count display.
Are the HPC process meters suitable for field use?
The HPC78+ and HPC79+ are IP65 dust- and water-resistant for harsh industrial environments, with a backlight, built-in flashlight and auto power-off, running on 3 standard AA batteries. The HPC77+ shares the same functions but is not IP65-rated.
