Professional OWON multimeter category introduction

OWON multimeters cover four practical measurement groups: high-resolution benchtop DMMs for laboratory and production benches, handheld meters for field service, clamp meters for current measurement without opening the circuit, and process meters/calibrators for loop and signal work. Main ranges include Benchtop Multimeters, Handheld Multimeters, Clamp Meters, Process Multimeters. Choose by required accuracy, voltage/current rating, safety category, display resolution, logging/remote-control needs and whether the measurement is bench, field, clamp-current or process-calibration work.

  • Highest bench accuracy: Choose the XDM6061 (6½ digit, 2,200,000 counts, 10,000 rdgs/s) for laboratory-grade measurements, device characterisation or any application where the last digit of accuracy matters.
  • Bench with connectivity: Choose the XDM3051 (5½ digit) for a networked bench DMM — it adds LAN and Wi-Fi to USB/RS232, making it suitable for automated test systems and remote monitoring.
  • Battery-powered bench: Choose the XDM1251 or XDM1241 (5½ / 4½ digit, lithium battery) when the bench supply is not always available — same accuracy as AC models, fully portable.
  • Field handheld True-RMS: Choose an OW18E or OW16B for everyday field measurements — compact, True-RMS, NCV and Bluetooth-enabled for wireless logging via the OWON app.
  • Non-contact current: Choose the CM2100B (100 A) for safe non-contact AC/DC current measurement; the CMS101 oscilloscope clamp extends this to 1000 A with a 1 MHz bandwidth.
  • Loop / process calibration: Choose an HPC77+, HPC78+ or HPC79+ when a signal source is needed alongside measurement — they output DC voltage, current and frequency for loop calibration and process signal simulation.

Multimeters from OWON

OWON multimeters cover every measurement need from compact handheld True-RMS meters to high-resolution 6½-digit benchtop DMMs with SCPI remote control. Bluetooth-enabled handheld and clamp models pair with a smartphone app for wireless logging, making them equally useful on the workshop bench and in the field.

The benchtop XDM range spans 4½ to 6½ digits: entry XDM1041/1241 models deliver 60,000-count accuracy on mains or battery; XDM1051/1251 step up to 5½ digits at 85 readings/second with LAN and Wi-Fi on the XDM3051; and the flagship XDM6061 reaches 6½ digits at 10,000 readings/second with 1000 V / 10 A range and full USB/LAN/RS232 connectivity. Clamp meters (CM2100B, CMS101) and process meters (HPC77+–HPC79+) complete the range.

FAQ

Questions about OWON Multimeters

Technical selection guidance for choosing the right instrument family and model.

What is the difference between the XDM1041, XDM1051 and XDM6061?

The XDM1041 is a 4½-digit (60,000-count) entry bench DMM — accurate and affordable for general electronics work. The XDM1051 steps up to 5½ digits (220,000 counts) at 85 readings/second with a brighter IPS display — suitable for more demanding measurements and faster logging. The XDM6061 is the 6½-digit (2,200,000-count) flagship at 10,000 readings/second with LAN and RS232 — the right choice when the last digit of accuracy matters or when integrating into an automated test system.

Which OWON benchtop multimeters work on battery power?

The XDM1241 (4½-digit) and XDM1251 (5½-digit) are the battery-powered variants — both run on a built-in lithium battery, making them suitable for field measurements or installations without a mains supply. Specifications are otherwise identical to their AC counterparts (XDM1041 and XDM1051).

Which OWON handheld meters support Bluetooth and wireless logging?

The OW16B, OW18B and OW18E handhelds include Bluetooth for live wireless measurement streaming to the OWON app. The B35T+ and B41T+ add offline recording — they store readings internally so you can log without a phone present and upload later. The CM2100B and CMS clamp meters also support Bluetooth.

What is a process multimeter and when do I need one?

Process multimeters (HPC77+/78+/79+) combine measurement with signal output — they can source DC voltage, current (4–20 mA loop) and frequency signals as well as measure them. They are used for calibrating process instrumentation, testing PLC inputs and simulating sensor signals in industrial environments. The HPC79+ also supports thermocouple and RTD simulation.
