One load family for power-supply, battery and converter test

The OWON OEL85 series (also known as the OEL8500 series) is a family of seven single-channel programmable DC electronic loads. All share the same compact half-rack 2U chassis with a 3.9-inch TFT display — you simply choose the input ratings: 150, 300 or 600 V, 20 or 40 A, and 200, 400 or 500 W of continuous power.

Every model sinks current in four static modes — CC, CV, CR and CP — and adds a CC dynamic mode up to 5 kHz with programmable rise/fall slope for transient-response testing. Readback resolution of 1 mV / 0.1 mA, full protection (OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP and reverse voltage) and SCPI remote control over RS232 and USB make it equally at home on an R&D bench or in an automated production test rack.

Four static operating modes with a 0.05 Ω–7.5 kΩ resistance range, plus a CC dynamic mode to 5 kHz (T1/T2 from 0.1 ms to 50 s) for load-transient testing of supplies and converters.

Programmable slope

Current rise/fall slope adjustable from 0.01 A/ms to 2000 A/ms with a minimum rise time of 20 µs — shape the exact current step your device under test must survive.

Precision readback & protection

1 mV / 0.1 mA / 10 mW readback on the 3.9-inch TFT, with over-voltage, over-current, over-power, over-temperature and reverse-voltage protection plus short-circuit simulation.

SCPI remote & parallel to 4 kW

RS232 and USB device interfaces with the SCPI protocol for automated test; RS485 links up to 10 units in parallel (except CV mode) for as much as 4 kW of load power.

OEL-T1 test pack

Optional

Unlocks the battery-discharge test (capacity curves with cut-off conditions) plus automated OCP and OPP test routines — order no. OEL-T1.

Parallel module & RS232 cable

Optional

The parallel module links up to 10 units over RS485 for a combined 4 kW load system; the RS232 com cable connects a PC for SCPI remote control.

Handle & 20 A test leads

Optional

A carry/rack handle for the half-rack chassis and heavy-duty 20 A test leads for low-resistance connections to the device under test.
